School of Nursing and Midwifery Holds Stakeholders Program

The School of Nursing and Midwifery (SNM) has held a stakeholder’s

meeting on the theme, “The role of Nurses in managing students on the

ward.”

Presenting on the theme was Dr Christian Makafui Boso, a Lecturer at

the School of Nursing and Midwifery. He expressed that the purpose of

the meeting was to analyze the roles of clinical nurses in managing

students’ behaviour, and also outline strategies to help manage students'

behaviour on the ward.

He pointed out that the clinical setting was pivotal to any nursing

program, therefore the clinical environment should be conducive for

clinical teaching to build the desired behaviour. He said creating such an

environment would require a partnership between students, clinicians,

managers, faculty, and School.

Dr Boso further explained ways to manage students' behaviour such as

role modelling, clear rules and regulations, good orientation, and

fostering a culture in which students feel comfortable to ask questions or

seek help.

Present at the meeting were the Heads of Department, faculty,

Clinicians, and Nurses from the University Health Services, Cape Coast

Technical Teaching Hospital, Ankaful Teaching Hospital and the Cape

Coast Teaching Hospital.
