The New Examination Centre (NEC) of the University of Cape Coast recently came alive with style and innovation as final-year students from the Department of Vocational and Technical Education (VoTEC) presented their unique fashion creations.

The event was part of the Department’s broader initiative to use fashion as a medium for cultural preservation, storytelling, and creative innovation. While it supports academic learning requirements, the fashion show also offers students a platform to spark new ideas, push boundaries, and showcase their originality.

Students unveiled their artistic clothing designs on a beautifully decorated stage, delighting the audience.

Speaking at the event, the Head of Department of VoTEC, Dr. Manasseh E. Komla Amu, noted that the fashion show clearly demonstrated the students’ mastery of competency-based training.

He explained that the programme reflects the department’s dedication to promoting Ghanaian culture and creativity through the universal language of fashion.

“Fashion is not just about clothes; it’s about identity, culture, and self-expression. It’s about telling stories, conveying messages, and evoking emotions. Our students have invested countless hours honing their skills, experimenting with designs, and perfecting their craft,” he said.

Dr. Amu further stated that since the department’s establishment, it has produced several talented designers who serve the needs of society both within and beyond the country.

He also expressed appreciation to the faculty and staff for their commitment and support in developing the next generation of fashion professionals.
